Parkland Animal K-9 Society (PAKS) is an animal rescue group based in
PAKS’ objectives are to:
Rescue, Rehabilitate, Retrain and Re-home the numerous strayed or unwanted animals that are held at the Parkland County Pound Facility each year.
We will also strive to help educate pet lovers in pet health, training, and many other aspects of responsible pet ownership. We will begin to do this through our website with our very valuable links and through literature at our Adoption Day Celebrations.
PAKS will look forward to working with the many County oriented business as well as with Parkland County Animal Control in the days and years to come.
Please enjoy the site and feel free to make suggestions on how we can make the site better.

To save one animal at a time.
PAKS is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted and stray animals held at Parkland County Animal Control and help to educate the public in respect to pet management. We will strive to provide the community with the tools, the experience and their endless supply of support needed to integrate all pets into a strong family pack.
Volunteer run, PAKS operates entirely with the help of individual foster homes. These foster homes rehabilitate, retrain, and re-home animals that have come primarily from Parkland Animal Control.
Generally, PAKS does not accept owner surrender animals but may consider requests based on a case by case scenario, donations will be requested to cover costs of food. A detailed questionnaire along with an owner release document must be completed and medical records must be presented prior to surrender.
PAKS is committed to working with any individual requiring guidance with their pets’ behaviour or training needs. Pets are not disposable, when you acquired your pet you made the conscious decision to take on the responsibility of another life, it is your responsibility to keep your commitment by taking all possible steps to ensure that this animal is cared for, nurtured and given all the necessities of life. Please consider your current and future lifestyles prior to adopting an animal.
As a not-for-profit society, we rely solely on monies raised through memberships, sponsors, various fundraising efforts, as well as general donations from the public and private business owners. Without the support of the community none of this is possible.
Many of the PAKS members have been involved in animal rescue for numerous years and understand that promoting responsible pet ownership is just as important as working with families to find the right animal to fit into their new family or pack. We endeavor to match each family’s lifestyle with the animals’ basic needs. Each potential adoptive family will be asked numerous questions related to your families’ lifestyle, please answer as truthfully as possible so that we can find your perfect match.
As part of our devotion to rescuing animals we will strive to reduce the number of unwanted pets through education, stressing the importance of spaying, neutering and vaccinating your pets.
