Breed :

Domestic Short Hair

Age:

4 to 5 years

Gender:

Neutered Male

Other:

Talk about handsome, I am a black and white short-hair boy and I am waiting for my Mrs. Right.  I am about 1 1/2 years, I am neutered and up to date on my shots.  I am friendly with my current foster mom who loves me lots so I let her pet and play with me all the time.  I am totally an outdoor cat at the moment but I feel I have the potential to be someone’s pet and could be an indoor/outdoor cat.  I have my own little area right now in my foster moms greenhouse to sleep in and I stay close to home in the day.

UPDATE: June 1, 2009

Blondie has been with PAKS for 6 months today.  She has made some huge improvements since she first came.

Blondie has a new game called "Blondie's Bobbing for Bones"  this involves the doggie wading pool and milk bones.  You guessed it, it is just like bobbing for apples...doggie style.!  At first Blondie was very scared of the water but has taken to it like a fish to water!  We like to think it was all the coaxing and praise but Blondie thinks it was the milk bones that did it!

Blondie walks well on leash and off leash she is always aware of where you are, sticks fairly close by and always comes when called.  She is crate trained and rides well in the car.  She loves going for runs with the Mini Quad and would rather keep pace with you than be in front or behind.  We think she would make an excellent running/jogging companion.

She is more accepting of other dogs but she still has some initial action/reaction to some dogs that she is unsure of or that are more agressive.  She would do great in a home with a more passive dog so she can be more at ease.  She does love to play with her younger foster sister and will even belly up for her.

Blondie has been great with the foster homes 8 year old child and will walk on leash, take treats, snuggle and will roll over for a belly rub any time.
Blondie still shows intrests in cats so a no cat house hold would be advised.

ABBIE

Sharpei/lab x

Age:

Adult

Gender:

Female

Size:

Large

Activity Level:

High

Notes from Abbie's foster mom ....Abbie is definitely a great farm dog.  She helps me feed the horses every day and has never offered to chase or snap at them.  She meets new dogs every day and some of them she sniffs and wags and some not so friendly.  But lots of dogs are like that.  We take a nature walk every day and Abbie loves to run in the long grass and flush out the pheasants. . She is high energy and as long as she gets her exercise she is a very happy girl.  I've also gotten her to like being brushed, at first she was very afraid of the brush.  She is  afraid of the dark and would love to have a night lite..

Abbie is currently being fostered in Calgary through the Sharpei Rescue Society. For more information on Abbie, including adoption fees, contact

CINNAMON

Breed:

Heeler x

Age:

Approx 15 months

Gender:

Female

Size:

Medium

Activity Level:

Medium/High

Temperment:

Playful, loves other dogs

Other:

Update June 12: Cinnamon has made huge improvements since she was returned from her previous home.  Some of the issues she had were problems with kids, cats, moving vehicles, dogs, adults, jumping up, nipping really there were too many things to even mention.  Most of these issues we have found were because she was not getting the proper exercise and guidance.

Today we are happy to report that she is great with other dogs and spends her days in doggie daycare with up to 20 other dogs of all sizes, breeds and genders.  She goes for long bike rides with her foster dad. She is a wonderful swimmer and will swim around just for fun. She has met many other people while at her foster home, adults and kids alike, and has been great with all of them as you will see in her extra picture file.  She knows basic commands and is simply a sweet heart.  She has really bonded to her foster family and loves attention from everyone.  She has met two cats belonging to other foster families.  She sniffed, licked and then ignored the one dog friendly cat.  With the other cat (a larger, scarier, non dog friendly cat) she tensed up and barked but with correction she approached the cat, sniffed it and then ignored it.

As we have seen with Cinnamon, as long as she is introduced properly to new things she will adapt easily, if she is thrown into a new situation without understanding and guidance it will take longer for her to adapt.  (Just like some kids learn to swim better with a life jacket, Cinnamon will learn new things better with the support of an educated understanding owner)

We know that her new family is out there somewhere, if you are her family, please call her foster mom at the number below.

 Can you say "SWEET HEART"

Other:

Update - May 27, 2009: Man can this boy RUN!.  He may be stocky but don't let it fool you, he will give some quads a run for the money.  He is a fabulous boy. He can sit, lay down, shake a paw,  not great at staying when there are fence posts to pee on but he is a boy after all.  He is also crate trained and is pretty good on the leash.  He is great with the foster homes female dogs but we are 100% sure he has to go to a home with NO CATS.  But don't let this stop you...We all know there are dog only house holds out there!

He is a happy boy and loves his belly rubs and is content just hanging out in either the dog run or in the house; did we mention he is also crate trained!

He is 200% ready for his new home!  Come out and see him today and see what all the fuss is about.

(and a note to his old foster mom Sylvia:  " Hi Sylvia, Sinbad is doing great and still does his one paw in the air thing when he is happy, which is always.  He sends big kisses your way!")

Oh ya' and check out my new pictures by clicking on the link below.....lookin' good if I do say so myself!

WOW, you cannot believe how happy PAKS was when Sylvia from SCARS said that I could be the newest PAK member.  I was fostered by a PAK volunteer a long time ago and she is very happy to have the chance to help me find a new home.  I loved being at Sylvia’s but she is so full with boy dogs and she knows that I will be safe here with PAKS until I find my new home.

So what can I tell you about me, well I am about 3 years old and most likely an Akita x Great Pyrness. I am about 85lbs and around 25 inches at the shoulder, but when I puff my chest out I look much bigger.  I am neutered and fully vaccinated.

I am really good with girl dogs, you can say I am a bit of a ladies’ man!  I have had some trouble in the past with some other male dogs and just hate them darn cats.  I am great in the car and love road trips. I am good with kids and listen well.  I love running after my foster mom on the mini quad…yes it is as funny as it sounds.

HOUDINI

Breed:

Shepherd x

Age:

5 months

Gender:

Male

Size:

Will be large - over 80lbs

Activity Level:

Puppy

Temperment:

Silly puppy

Other:

Houdini is a great young boy who ideally would love to go to a home with his brother Louie. We understand that this is not always possible so the next best thing is for Houdini to go to a home with another dog as a companion.  Houdini is a bit of a follower and will learn very quickly from an older dog.

Both Houdini and Louie are house trained and use a bell attached to the door to let their foster parents know when it is time to go outside. (Talk about SMART DOGS)

So yes they are house trained and are good with adults, kids, dogs and cats.

How big will they be...well that is anyones guess but we think they will top out at about 90 pounds.  When this picture was taken they were about 4 months old and about 35 pounds.  They have short fur similar to a bull mastiff, so large yards and indoor homes will be required.

For adoption information please call Janice at 780 470 4304.

Please contact PAKS at 780-222-7259 or by emailing us at pa_k9@yahoo.ca.

Will be large - over 80 lbs

Activity Level:

Puppy

Temperment:

Silly puppy

Other:

Louie is a bit more outgoing than Houdini.  He will do well as an only dog or a perfect addition to a home with another dog.  Being larger breed dogs they still have energy but are more calm than lets say....a Jack Russel.
